The Witch Wound

My matrilineal lineage has witches. And it makes me cringe that I feel compelled to clarify that they were “good witches.” But my own witch wound runs very, very deep. A Celtic grandmother of mine, once revered for her knowledge of herbs and plant wisdom, who was a midwife and healer, had to flee for her life when she was deemed a threat to the church.

So it is fear that I carry in my bones when I decide to hit the publish button and send this out into the world. But, I am denying who I am when I do not claim my lineage. And I do not want to live that way.

How words can empower. And how they can destroy. Once, witches were sacred and necessary to their communities. Trusted advisers. Keepers of wisdom. It is time to reclaim what a witch is and what it truly means.

I believe Witch means -

Healer. Medicine woman. Midwife and doula. Seer. Intuitive. Seeker. Wise One.

Anyone in touch with their TRUE SELF.

What she is NOT -

Evil. Conspiring with the devil. Immoral. A threat.

Witches are inherently and deeply connected to the Earth and Spirit. And it is time for a reclamation.
